About

How it started

I woke one morning to discover I'd acquired three dogs, a cat, and a huge, flourishing garden full of lavender, rose bushes, a bountiful grapevine, and a host of other flora. All nice individually; potentially disastrous together.

Being paraplegic, Rocky (the cat) was out of danger. For the rest, PawCheck was born.

What it does

PawCheck lets you instantly look up whether a food, plant, or common household item is safe or toxic for your dog or cat. No sign ups, no logins, no fuss—just a quick answer when you need one.

Where the data comes from

Plant toxicity data is sourced from the public ASPCA Animal Poison Control plant lists and checked monthly for updates (more often than not our database is more up to date). Food safety information is compiled from established veterinary guidance.

If you suspect your pet has eaten something harmful, please contact your vet or an animal poison control centre immediately—PawCheck is a reference tool, not a substitute for professional advice.

Get in touch

We genuinely want to hear from you, so feel free to drop us a line if there's anything you think should be added to the database or edited (or if you just want to say 'hi' to Rocky).
